Busch Vacuum Solutions and Pfeiffer Vacuum have officially joined forces globally, marking a powerful alliance set to reshape the global vacuum and overpressure landscape - with a keen focus on meeting the growing demands of the African market. Pipes, Pumps and Valves Africa explores how this strategic partnership is unlocking new potential across industries that rely on precision technology from the BUSCH GROUP.

The BUSCH GROUP is a family business that is managed by the Busch family. More than 8,000 employees in 44 countries worldwide work for the group which is headquartered in Germany. Production takes place at their own manufacturing plants in Germany, Switzerland, China, the Czech Republic, France, India, Romania, South Korea, the United Kingdom, the USA and Vietnam. The Group has an annual consolidated revenue of close to 2 billion Euro.
Busch-Pfeiffer Vacuum Solutions in Africa supplies a wide range of vacuum pumps, over pressure blowers, compressors and systems. The company recently opened a brand-new state-of-the-art vacuum solutions centre in Johannesburg, reflecting its commitment to enhancing operations and services across the African continent.
Supported by their own sales and service centres in Cape Town, Durban, Ghana, Kenya and Egypt, each region is fully geared to service and overhaul pumps within their workshops and carry out service work and commissioning at the client’s site. Busch Vacuum Solutions can also service competitor products.
Building long-term customer relationships and delivering the smartest vacuum and overpressure solutions in the African continent is the vision for Busch-Pfeiffer.
According to Minal Debipersad, Head of Marketing for Africa, “To achieve this vision we must now continue to significantly strengthen the company’s visibility in the market, and we need to leverage the strengths of Pfeiffer Vacuum in the BUSCH GROUP. We are now positioned to deliver solutions from rough industrial vacuum all the way to ultra-high vacuum in the space, analytical and R&D markets,” she explains.
Sean Pieterse, Managing Director of BUSCH GROUP Africa, emphasizes this, “The value offering just became far greater across so many more market segments and we have already delivered many unique solutions into non- traditional Busch markets across Africa”. He also emphasizes that the Busch Pfeiffer’s focus is on service and being close to our customers. Their Africa-wide service centres, and certified technicians provide comprehensive support — including on- site maintenance, workshop repairs and production optimisation services - ensuring 24/7 performance and reliability. “I assure our Pfeiffer customers that they will receive the same care and attention that Busch is so well known for in the market.”
A complete vacuum and over-pressure one stop shop
Providing a complete range of products and technologies is key to the expansion drive in Africa. Busch-Pfeiffer technologies include oil rotary vane, dry rotary vane, screw, dry claw, liquid ring, turbomolecular and diaphragm pumps, leak detectors, compressors and blowers. Pieterse states, “Our vacuum pumps and blowers are tailored to specific customer processes where we offer central vacuum or bespoke turnkey solutions for applications such as food packaging, medical, pharmaceutical, mining, oil & gas, plastics, wastewater, printing, woodwork and many more. These system solutions often integrate pumps, blowers, vacuum chambers, online condition monitoring, control systems and all relevant accessories to optimise customer performance and efficiency.”
A New Africa Head office offering a state-of-the-art vacuum and blower technology centre
“With the rapid expansion in Africa over the last 10 years, the BUSCH GROUP needed a significantly larger facility and so a new head office was built in Johannesburg at the end of 2023. This world class facility now offers a best-in-category service centre, an advanced systems building centre and a large warehousing space for extensive stock holding.
“Our goal was also to offer service capabilities for Turbo molecular pump repairs that were only available in Europe previously,” says Debipersad. “The new building offers the only Class 10 000 clean room in Africa allowing for this and other challenging services which is a first for any vacuum pump company in this market. “An ISO standard volumetric flow testing rig, liquid ring test bay, online condition monitoring facility and a dedicated 40 seater training room round off the customer experience. These facilities enable us to maintain the highest quality, precision and efficiency standards in our operations.”
Our vacuum engineers and technologists are trained to listen to customer needs and to offer solutions that help reduce energy and water consumption. We focus on extending the life of our customer assets and increasing their productivity by reducing equipment downtime.
