DÜCHTING is proud to present one of its most recent and impactful pump installations for a mining application in the Copperbelt region of Africa – a region globally recognized for its extensive copper production and its particularly demanding operational conditions.

The Copperbelt is not only one of the most productive mining regions in the world, it is also an environment where equipment is exposed to extreme loads, continuous operation, and very limited opportunities for downtime. This makes the choice of the right pumping solution a decisive factor for the success of the entire operation.
As part of a large-scale copper mining project, their engineering team developed a pump solution tailored to meet the specific requirements of high-pressure mine dewatering. The customer’s needs were clear: a highly efficient, reliable, and low-maintenance system capable of handling large volumes under high heads, while ensuring uninterrupted performance around the clock. After a thorough evaluation of available options, the HPXM 250-1000×4 proved to be the ideal solution to meet these ambitious demands.
Key technical data:
• Pump type: HPXM 250-1000×4
• Flow rate: 900 m³/h
• Head: 310 m
• Efficiency: 82%
• Commissioning: Q1 2024
• Application: Mine dewatering in copper mining
This high-performance multistage pump stands out due to a unique combination of exceptional efficiency, compact design, and minimized lifecycle costs. Compared to conventional systems used in similar environments, the HPXM 250-1000×4 achieves the same high flow and pressure levels with an efficiency improvement of approximately 20%. This translates directly into significantly reduced energy consumption and, consequently, lower operating costs – a decisive advantage in an industry where energy is often one of the largest cost drivers. Another key benefit is the compact and modular design of the pump. It allows for straightforward installation and seamless integration into existing system infrastructures, which minimizes the need for structural modifications on site. The robust construction ensures a long service life and minimal maintenance requirements. During the planned operational phase, the installation is expected to run at zero maintenance cost. For the customer, this means maximum system availability and a drastic reduction in unplanned interventions – a factor of particular importance in remote mining areas where service logistics are complex and costly.
Commissioned successfully in Q1 2024, this pump installation already contributes to the efficient and sustainable dewatering of one of the region’s major copper mining operations. By ensuring safe and continuous water management, the HPXM 250-1000×4 not only increases productivity but also helps to maintain stable working conditions underground, thereby directly supporting the long-term success of the mining project.
By combining technical performance with economic and operational advantages, the HPXM 250-1000×4 once again underlines DÜCHTING Pumpen’s expertise and commitment to delivering tailor-made, high-efficiency pump solutions for the mining industry worldwide. With each project, they reaffirm their role as a trusted partner in meeting the challenges of the most demanding industrial environments.
